How will Covid-19 affect AwaH?
The upcoming show will be in-person, but in order to ensure the safety of the participants and audience, there will be limited capacity. Much of the process leading up to the show will remain the same. Lunch and Saturday rehearsals will still take place and dancers are still required to attend their rehearsal times.

What is the time commitment of Arts with a Heart?
It's up to you! At auditions, you will fill out a form outlining when you are available to rehearse. This will help us cast you in pieces corresponding to your schedule. If you feel that you do not have the time it takes to dedicate yourself to the amount of pieces you were cast in, you may choose to not participate in certain pieces. All rehearsals take place during the school day at various breaks, lunches, and conference/clubs periods, as well as on Saturdays (more of the all-cast pieces). Many students find that they cannot attend these but can make most of the school rehearsals, which is completely fine. During Tech Week, (Monday and Wednesday), each piece is rehearsed on stage, in costume with lighting and sound. Thursday before opening night is the dress rehearsal, at which we run the show twice and work out anything that still needs work. These three nights are mandatory as they are crucial to the success of the show. The three performances, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, are all mandatory. Check out our Flickr Page for awesome photos of past performances!

Do I have to be a "dancer" to be in Arts with a Heart?
Not at all! Arts with a Heart is a cast-all production, and the choreography is suited to prima ballerinas and those who've never attended a dance class in their life. As long as you're committed to working hard and learning the choreography, you will shine in Arts with a Heart––no experience necessary.

Can I play sports and participate in Arts with a Heart?
Absolutely! Since all rehearsals take place during the school day and on Saturdays, Arts with a Heart does not usually conflict with school sports. We have a great partnership with the athletics department. The only potential conflict in scheduling will be during Tech Week at our two late night rehearsals, but we coordinate with the athletics department in advance to work out these issues.

Can I help out with Arts with a Heart if I don't want to be a performer?
Of course! Arts with a Heart is almost entirely student-run, and there are infinite opportunities for students to be involved, in big and small ways. Further, into the rehearsal process, we will be looking for interested girls to be on our valuable Tech Crew, which helps to run the shows smoothly. We are also always in need of an extra set of hands, so contact a member of the production team if you'd like to help out!
